PGT TET exam preparation tips

In search of Teaching jobs? Want to be a qualified Post Graduate Teacher?  Read this article on preparation tips and helpful techniques to clear PGT TET in Assam and other TET exams.
I think every person  applying for Post Graduate TET exam holding in Feb 8, 2014 have been frantically searching for study and preparation tips for Post Graduate TET exam. The exam will be tough as you can already sense from the syllabus. The exam being a Multiple Choice type one with OMR sheetscan be considered both as good or bad. Because MCQ type helps  the candidate to skip practice part and devote more time in studying and covering a wide syllabus.

The disadvantage of MCQ type question paper is that you either hit or miss an answer. There is no chance of correcting an answer once you have blackened the choice answer. Moreover there is very little chance of getting points from wild guesses. If you guess the answer it should be a wise guess. For making a wise guess one needs to cover at least 90% of the syllabus.

So whether it is the MCQ type of exam is good or bad you have have already decided positively to sit for the exam.  I think all candidates have by now got the syllabus and fairly accustomed to the topics covered in the TET exam. Here are some preparation strategy for the Post Graduate TET exam.

  1. Get a copy of the syllabi (both common paper/General Studies and your Stream Arts/Science/Commerce).
  2. For Science and commerce stream getting a thorough reading of your 10+2 books will help.
  3. For Arts subject the syllabus is more like the General Studies paper itself. We can call it an extensive and exclusive General Studies paper. Here to one should study course material for Plus two syllabus.
  4. For Paper I the Marks are distributed proportionately. One has to stress on the subject where they consider themselves weak. For example an Arts student who is poor in Maths have to practice hard to get the 20 marks basic Algebra!
  5. For Paper II Option C(Arts Stream) General Studies paper the syllabus says it all. There is no shortcut (perhaps) to cover up this vast syllabus. So get started!
  6. For the Assam/North East  part  I think Shantanu Kaushik Baruah's Assam year Book will be helpful.
  7. Study regularly. At least 4 hours of study will help you to bring the syllabus under control.
  8. For Pedagogy parts study B.Ed books thoroughly.
  9. Solve some previous year CTET question paper for the common paper.
  10. Get your basic grammatical concepts cleared and focus on the given topics from Grammar.
There are less than 20 days for the exam starting from now. But don't get scared and never focus on what others say. Give your 100% to the exam. Success will follow you. Al the best!!
